Sure, a lot of it has still been for selfish reasons, but like I said before, that doesn't have to mean evil. Since then, Illidan has done nothing but good (until Burning Crusade). That's one of those decisions that's easy to condemn in hindsight, but in the moment the urgency prevents serious discourse. The Well of Eternity, in all honesty, would have been a shame to waste. Him saving a part of the Well of Eternity may have been reckless, and may technically have caused the Legion to come back ten thousand years later, but it's not like he did it for that reason. He may be power hungry, but power is only as evil as the way it's used. But here's the thing about Illidan: he's not evil. He goes through the War of the Ancients seeking more and more power. Not following what's expected of them might be one of the elements that make up the cliché, but Illidan doesn't just have it as a trait, he uses it as part of his development. He was shown magic, however, and embraced it. Illidan started out as a normal guy with druidic potential like his brother (which was rare at the time). He knows how to use power, but there's a large prejudice against power, so he's forced into being distant when he'd prefer not to be. He is power hungry, he is a bit of a jerk, but he's not evil. He looks like it sometimes, but he actually has depth. That type of character usually has no character development, exists just to keep looking cool, and often remains on the gray line of hero and villain purely so they can remain mysterious end edgy. That cliché is often mocked because it's shallow and forced. The fact that I like him is evidence that he's so much more than that (assuming you know me of course P). This campaign takes more of an RPG type of an approach to gameplay, Solely focusing on hero usage and quest type missions.Illidan gets stereotyped a lot by his detractors for being the generic, "emo," cool antihero cliché.
